A 2008 UNICEF study revealed a haunting truth: 56% of out-of-school youth here are shackled by poverty, their dreams crushed under the weight of unaffordable fees. Urban wealth thrives while rural Pujehun struggles, its youth trapped in cycles of deprivation.
The Pujehun District Students’ Association (PuDSA) emerged as a beacon of hope. Born from solidarity, it rallies stakeholders to dismantle barriers: tuition aid, mentorship, advocacy. Every effort ignites a chain reaction—empowering girls, shielding the vulnerable, bridging urban-rural divides. Education is no longer a privilege but a right reclaimed.

The Pujehun District Students’ Association (PuDSA) was established during Sierra Leone’s early post-independence era by scholars and community leaders to tackle educational barriers faced by students from Pujehun District. Initially a small network at Fourah Bay College, it grew into a nationwide organization uniting students across institutions.
PuDSA champions Academic Excellence, Pprofessional Growth, Cultural Pride, and Solidarity among members. Key initiatives include advocating for scholarships, offering mentorship, and addressing challenges like financial hardships and limited educational resources. Today, it remains a vital force for empowerment, driving positive change for students and the broader Pujehun District community.
